A reminder that Barry Shaw’s funeral takes place tomorrow at Eltham Crematorium.

Barry, who sadly passed away on Christmas Eve, was an outstanding Honorary Secretary of the Club, and member of the Executive Committee, for twenty-one seasons from 1994/95, and Blackheath Football Club owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for his diligent work, sound legal advice and wise counsel during this time.

When he stopped playing, Barry rarely missed a game as a supporter of the Club, usually with his wife Hannelore, and often with their beloved Dachshund, transported in continental-style in a holdall. They visited every away ground that we played at, and also some interesting venues abroad on tours to South Africa, Argentina and the United States.

Barry’s serious side was always balanced by his sense of humour, qualities that all those privileged to know him will miss.

As a solicitor in his day job, Barry specialised in the entertainment business, in particular West End shows.  He also supported the local Greenwich theatre.

If not supporting a Blackheath tour, Barry and Hannelore enjoyed holidaying in Germany and France, which unfortunately for the past 18 months they have not been able to do because of Barry’s failing health.

We send our sincere condolences to Hannelore at this sad time.

The funeral takes place at Eltham Crematorium (SE9 2NL) at 2.00 pm tomorrow (Thursday 18th January), and afterwards at Well Hall.

No flowers please.

A privilege to be at Well Hall, with a guest, for the Coventry encounter. A simply outstanding performance from the team and staff which will live long in the memory. As will Albert’s smile at the end. Great stuff.
