Blackheath v Sale FC – Team News

Posted by

Blackheath return to action this weekend as Sale FC are the visitors to Well Hall. Kick off tomorrow is at 3 pm.

The Club secured a league double over newly-promoted Sale last term, but the Cheshire side responded by inflicting Blackheath’s worst result of the season when they travelled to Heywood Road in October.

A fired-up Sale totally outclassed a Club side which was a shadow of the team that had won at Rosslyn Park a fortnight earlier, scoring six tries to Blackheath’s two and winning 43-18.

Blackheath will want to make amends, if only to celebrate skipper Markus Burcham’s 200th league appearance in Club colours, a superb achievement.

Markus joins an elite set of Blackheath players to reach this landmark in the modern era and only the second back to do so. (Do you know the other one? That’s a teaser to keep you going till next week!)

Tomorrow will also see a welcome return for Neale Patrick.  The Club second-row makes his first appearance this season after recovering from an operation.

Freddie Owen plays at open-side, after Tom Baldwin took a knock against Rosslyn Park, and the bench includes a returning Josh Peters and Jamie Ure who was a late withdrawal against Park.
