Cambridge v Blackheath – Team News

Posted by

Blackheath head up the M11 tomorrow, for their first visit to Cambridge RUFC in four years. Kick-off at Volac Park in Grantchester Road is at 2.00 pm.

That visit, in March 2013, saw Blackheath rack up ten tries (five for Dave Allen) in a 58-26 victory against a struggling Cambridge side who were ultimately relegated.

However, prior to that trip, Volac Park proved an unhappy venue for Blackheath sides, with six straight defeats in as many years, most, if not all, orchestrated by one James Shanahan!

Last season Cambridge pipped Shanahan’s present club, Old Albanian, to gain automatic promotion back to Level Three and currently sit in eleventh position with seven wins.

Blackheath won the reverse fixture at Well Hall 34-24 in October.
