As part of our relationship with our local children’ hospice, Demelza, seven of our Academy players this week volunteered to help raise funds and promote the hospice choir’s bid to hit number one in the charts this Christmas. They spent Tuesday afternoon collecting donations from shoppers on Eltham High Street and handing out leaflets to locals whilst local schools sang Christmas Carols. Their good humour and charm helped create a great atmosphere and their general demeanour and attitude were a fantastic reflection of our Club and the Academy. Well done boys!
Blackheath Rugby are proud to support Demelza, a local charity which provides hospice care for children and their families in Eltham and Sittingbourne in Kent. This partnership will be ongoing and members of our 1st XV and the Blackheath Academy will be visiting the hospice to meet the children and doing voluntary work, as well as participating in other fundraising activities.
You can learn more about Demelza and their work at demelza.org.uk and watching the ‘It’s about Life’ video.
Demelza have joined with other local hospices and Paul Carrack to form a choir and their goal is to be number one this Christmas. If you would like to support Demelza, you can pre-order their single ’The Living Years’ by The London Hospices Choir and Paul Carrack from Amazon and iTunes, or listen to their single on YouTube.
