There are three key things for this weekends news:
Firstly, obviously, there is The Rugby.
Our second home game of 2020, following the win over then league leaders Rosslyn Park, is against Sale FC today. Club currently sit 5th in the table, with a game in hand, whilst Sale come to Well Hall for only the second time, looking to build on their win at home over Club earlier in the season so it’s going to be a gripping encounter. And, as Graham highlights in his team news and preview on the website, it’s also a landmark occasion as out Club Captain, Markus Burcham hits another tremendous milestone when he makes his 200thappearance for Blackheath.
Congratulations to our two mascots for the game- Frederick Garvey and Leo Whiffin, both of our Under 6’s, who both feature in the match programme which you can download here for free
A special note of thanks to our Match Sponsors as well – 42 of our Vice Presidents, Life Members and Friends of the Club – all of whom have contributed generously to the sponsorship of the Sale match. The full list is at the bottom.
The second thing to highlight are the Club Events coming up:
Tickets for the Evening of Wine and Cheeseon 21stApril are selling fast so if you want to join us and Simon Halliday (ex Bath and England) for the first event of this type we’re holding please email me using this linkas soon as possible.
We recently announcedthat we are holding City Lunch III on 27thMarchafter the overwhelming success of the first two, in the bigger and better location of Balls Brothers Minster Court, and now we can confirm that the guest speaker is World Cup Winner Kyran Bracken! The former England scrum half will be an excellent speaker to add to the overall ‘Club’ fun of the day (just ask those that came to the previous events how much fun they are). Tickets for the day, which is from midday to 5pm with the opportunity to continue the fun into the evening in a nearby hostelry, are £95 and can be booked by emailing Lisa Botes here.
We are averaging almost 90 people at the pre match lunches, and the Plymouth & Cambridge events are selling fast, with more and more of the age group parents and coaches coming to enjoy the pre match food & atmosphere. To book into the lunches, either as individuals or for a whole table click the following links to let me know:
