Today Blackheath FC welcomed 150 young girls to a rugby open day at Well Hall. Local schools took part in matches referred by coaches from our mini and youth sections and were put through their paces by representatives from the Women’s section who ran tackling and passing drills.
Despite the intermittent weather the girls spirits were not dampened in the slightest! We hope to continue the link between our Club and the schools, encouraging the girls to take up the sport and ultimately, welcome them with open arms to Blackheath. This may go some way towards a long term plan of bridging the gap between the U12s and the U18s girls.
A huge thanks to all involved, especially Rob Ballantyne who organised it, new Club member Daniel Hayes who sponsored the event and to Supreme Engraving as ever for their continued support.
