Half-back signings prepare for the fray!

As pre-season fast approaches, Blackheath are ready to reveal two to recruits at half-back likely to be involved from the start of the new campaign.

Josh Davies made six appearances with Ealing Trailfinders last season, having previously played with Newport Gwent Dragons, Plymouth Albion, London Welsh and Harlequins with whom he featured in the 150th anniversary game against Maori All Blacks.

The scrum-half has also represented Wales at U18 and U20 level where he was a runner-up in the Junior World Cup.

A slightly more familiar name to Club supporters will be that of Joe Tarrant (pictured above in training with England Counties) who has proved a consistent thorn in the side to Blackheath while playing for Ampthill who he joined in 2013 after two years at Bedford Blues Academy.

A goal-kicking fly-half, Joe scored 205 points (including six tries) for the side that finished third in National League One last term, and has also featured in England Counties’ 32-3 victory against France Federale at Rectory Field in March 2016.

Other representative honours include Eastern Counties, England Schools and Clubs U18.

Blackheath’s pre-season programme begins on Saturday 12th August, when the First XV travel to Merton Lane to take on Kent rivals Canterbury and the Heathens entertain Westcliffe RFC at Well Hall.

The oldest continuously played fixture takes place the following week when Richmond arrive at Well Hall, and Blackheath will have a further opportunity to test themselves against Championship opposition when Bedford Blues are the visitors on 26th August.

The National League One season begins on Saturday 2nd September when Blackheath host Plymouth Albion.
