Jake is back at Blackheath

Blackheath are pleased to announce that Jake Buckingham will be returning to Club colours for the start of the new season.

The loose-head prop spent the 2014-15 season playing for the Heathens, while in his second year with the Blackheath Academy, making one First XV appearance at Darlington Mowden Park (‘a baptism of fire’) at the age of just eighteen.

Now, after three years developing his rugby at Bath University, while studying a foundation degree in sports performance, he’s back at Well Hall.

‘I’ve really enjoyed my time at Bath,’ said Jake.  ‘The training’s been full-on, and the competition tough with weekly matches in the BUSC (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Super Rugby Championship, and I’ve learnt a lot.’

‘Now that’s over, I’m back in London to start looking for work while playing a good level of club rugby.  I joined Blackheath as a Junior when I was fourteen, before I had two very good years with the Academy which opened up the opportunity elsewhere.’

‘Frankly, I never considered joining any other club.’
