We are sorry to announce the death of Paul J Davies who died peacefully in his sleep aged 83. Paul was a prominent member of Blackheath’s 1st XV during the late 1950s and appears on the 1st XV team photos from 1956-57 to 1958-1959. He took part in the Club’s Centenary celebration games against Richmond and against the Barbarians at the White City. Paul was an excellent 7s player and was in the Club team that won the Gala 7s in 1956 and the Middlesex 7s in 1958.
Paul twice represented the Barbarian XV in 1960. The first was against Penarth on 18th April during the Ba-Baas Easter Tour and again three days later when they played Swansea. He also played for the Army v Navy in 1960.
Our thoughts go out to his wife Hazel and their four children Martin, Linda, Julie and Sally.
