Following the appointment of James Shanahan in February, Director of Rugby Colin Ridgway has now outlined the support team which will assist the Club’s new Head Coach when he takes up his role on 1st July ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Andy Holloway will join as Backs and Skills Coach. A former scrum-half with Bedford Blues and Southend, ‘Hollers’, who grew up playing alongside close friend and former England captain Jonny Wilkinson, began his coaching career with Wellingborough and Southend (where he was Head Coach) before linking up with Shanahan at Old Albanian in 2012.
He also works with ‘Shanners’ with the Cambridge University side, which he has recently combined with a role as co-Head Coach at Rosslyn Park.
Meanwhile, up front, Tom Stradwick will take charge as lead Forward Coach with the continuing support of Assistant Coach Andy Wolstenholme.
Stradwick, who is a PE teacher and rugby coach at Whitgift School, as well as Forwards Coach for the Kent county side under John Gallagher, joined Blackheath in 2011 from Henley Hawks. He will continue his playing career and to add to his 93 appearances in a Club jersey.
Elsewhere, Larry Measures will maintain his position as Team Manager supporting Ridgway with Lee Jeffries and Chris Kibble continuing their coaching roles within the senior squad.
