Saturday Was Super For The Club

Posted by

Rugby is good.  Friends are good.  Beer is good.  Put all three together and its a recipe for a good day.

One thing is for sure is that we do have big hearts and a sense of belonging. That’s at the heart of what makes a great team and a great Club, and it was all on show yesterday

The day got underway with one of our Volunteers Days, which have been driven this season by Pam, the Chair of our Supporters Club, and this one was superbly managed by the Foreman – our one & only Mark Fiander.  What made this Volunteers Day different however was the fact that the hardworking members were joined by Burch, our Club Captain, and a lot of the 1st XV boys who got stuck in to all the vital jobs (some of which really aren’t nice or fun at all) that need doing each and every week at our home ground to keep it looking fantastic and running smoothly.

From Russell, Albert, Frank, and from myself a huge thank you to everyone mentioned above and to all the other volunteers – Keith, Christine, David, Handy Andy, Doc Thompson and so many others who turn out in all weathers doing these and other vital jobs.
Later on we all retired to the bar and were joined by other Members and by the Blackheath Bandits, our social team, to watch the Internationals together.  Regardless of the results, beers were drunk and fun was had by all, as some of the photos below show.
Yesterday was a good CLUB day!
