Blackheath Rugby Supporters’ Club – Aims and Objectives

The Supporters’ Club (SC) was formed in November 2014 at the instigation of Colin Cook. His aim was to get together with other members to enhance the social side of being a supporter outside of match days, and to provide a way for volunteers to offer their time and skills to help the Club where needed. Mark Fiander became Chair (with Keith Oliver as his deputy) in the following autumn, and I took over as Chair in June 2017, with Richard Clark as my deputy.

The SC has regular monthly meetings at Well Hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm, with the minutes going to over 300 members. All are welcome at the SC meetings – you simply need to be a Member of the Club to join: there is no charge. Contact me on the email address, below, for more details of the meetings, or if you would simply like to be added to the distribution list for the minutes.

Volunteers are essential to the success and sustainability of all rugby clubs, and Blackheath Rugby is no exception. If you are interested in supporting the Club outside of match days but are not sure what you can do to help, we have produced a Skills Audit where you can indicate areas that you would be happy to be of assistance (contact me on the email below for a copy). We provide volunteers to help each week at Well Hall, we do leaflet drops and other tasks as requested by the Exec, Albert Patrick (General Manager) and Tim Brindle (Operations Manager), and we arrange Volunteer Days throughout the year. We also help to organise social events at the club and have a regular table at all 1st XV pre-match lunches.

I look forward to seeing all supporters at Well Hall for the home matches and, of course, welcoming new SC members now the 2017/18 season is upon us. Feel free to come to a meeting, email me to find out how you can help the Club, or just join us for a drink at one of the home matches.
