Welcome to Blackheath U10s!
Our aim for the U10s is to continue with the first steps into ‘contact’ from our U9 season by safely introducing the new U10 rules and recapping on skills developed in previous seasons. This will allow every member of the squad the opportunity to improve their skills whilst developing their own sense of team spirit and associated social skills.
In terms of numbers, we welcome on average 30 children – boys and girls – each week to U10s of varying skill levels and experience. To assist in making this as enjoyable as possible for all, we have a team of around 12 volunteer coaches of similarly varying degrees of skill and experience. All our coaches have current Enhanced DBS Certificates. Courses undertaken amongst the coaching group include: Rugby Ready, Scrum Factory, UKCC Level 1 as well as Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid in Rugby.
For many of our coaches, Rugby is a sport they’ve played and been associated with for many years. We believe in fun coaching of rugby skills and to help build the children’s confidence, their teamwork and their determination. As a sport, Rugby promotes ideals which we think each of us would be happy to instil in ourselves and our children.
At U10 we participate in a number of fixtures and festivals throughout London, Kent and the Home Counties. We play on a Sunday morning, generally between 09:45 and 12:00.
