Match Report by Josh Hawkins
The game starting twenty minutes later than scheduled due to Cinderford’s long trip down to Well Hall. Once the game was underway, early pressure from the straight, hard running Cinderford side lead to them scoring the first try. Heathens backs bursting through the Cinderford defence, to send Chapman over the line to score the Heathens first try.
As the game continued both teams were level pegging, scoring tries at each end. Heathens forwards dominating a scrum time and a well pressured defensive line out from Gillanders stealing Cinderford’s ball to allow their backs to run strike moves to take the lead into the second half.
The Heathens came out for the second half showing their slick handling skills and taking opportunities to extend their lead. The heathens subs coming on to inject some fresh legs into the team, carrying well and getting over the gain line. Summer’s scoring a try with he’s first touch of the ball. Fallon who had come on at half time for the injured Bush made an immediate impact bouncing off players as he broke the defensive line. Cinderford were still reluctant to give up, scoring two tries from driving mauls off of line out ball.
As the game opened up and gaps appeared this allowed the Heathens backs express their pace and offloading skills to achieve the bonus point win to place the team in contention for the leagues runner ups position going into the last game of the season against Esher next week.
