BLACKHEATH RUGBY COMMUNITY COACHING

Who we are

Blackheath Rugby Community Coaching was established in 2021 to provide children in South East London the opportunity to learn to play rugby within their schools. In the Academic year 2023/2024, coaching has been provided to over 2,800 pupils in local Primary and Secondary schools and the team are always on the lookout for more schools to partner with to support Rugby development in our local Community.

What we offer

For Primary schools we aim to deliver Non-Contact Rugby Coaching Programme to all Key Stage 2 pupils during curriculum time. Fully qualified and DBS checked Coaches will come into your school one day a week to Coach all 4 year groups for 5 weeks. In the sixth week we will invite all participating schools to bring mixed squads of girls and boys to a Tournament at our Hervey Road Sports Fields.

For Secondary Schools we have focused on providing after-school rugby sessions for students in Key Stage 3. We will come into your school once a week from September to March. At end of March we will host a Touch Rugby Tournament for all the participating schools. For those pupils who wish to take their rugby journey further, Blackheath Rugby Club has a thriving Minis, Juniors and Girls set up as well as a Touch Rugby section offering a non-contact pathway for children of all ages «link>. All these clubs will offer free sessions so that pupils can come and try out Club Rugby.
