Welcome to the Club, Ronan Foley!

Blackheath Rugby is excited to announce the signing of back row player Ronan Foley, who is currently in the UK on a three month sabbatical.

A former student at University College Dublin, Ronan was awarded the UCD Club Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season in 2017-2018, and captained UCD in the club’s pandemic-shortened 2020-2021 season. Ronan also represented Ireland at the 2018 Six Nations U20s Championship, has featured for Leinster ‘A’, and earned a cap with Leinster’s senior side in 2019.

James Shanahan, Head Coach, says “Ronan a very exciting player who was recommended by Chris Bell who played with him in the MLR. Ronan is a dynamic back rower who I look forward to working with. He’s over for a 3 month sabbatical before heading to Seattle for the new MLR season.”

We’re looking forward to seeing Ronan on the pitch, and he can’t wait to get started: “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to play with Blackheath and I can’t wait to get out there. I know Blackheath is a club steeped in history and it’s a real honour and privilege to pull on the jersey. I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and playing some exciting rugby for everyone to enjoy!”
