Blackheath Rugby is delighted to announce the signing of the prop/hooker, Tom Petty, who joins us from Plymouth.
Previously at London Scottish, and also an England Counties alumni, James Shanahan, Head Coach, knows Tom well and says “Thomas Petty is another young front row player. His ability to play across the front row gives us depth and flexibility in a long season. He will also be doubling up with studying at Cambridge University RUFC so he’ll see lots of me 😂.”
Tom is looking forward to coming to Blackheath Rugby “Going to Cambridge University next year, it was a no brainer to double up with Shanners and join Blackheath. Having grown up in SE London it will be nice to return ‘home’ to a bit of familiarity. I know a good number of the team and am very aware of the quality of on pitch talent being assembled at Blackheath. What makes the move even easier is how great the guys I know are off the pitch too. This for me is important – especially when grafting together throughout the long National 1 campaign. I can’t wait to put in the hard work over preseason.”
