Uncle Beef: Farm-to-Fork Street Food at Blackheath Rugby Club

We recently chatted to Steve Livens, owner of Uncle Beef, our fantastic match day burger/steak food stall. Not only do Steve and the team bring us super meat and veggie food on a match day, but he also has a shop on Crayford High Street which is being refurbished and is re-opening this Saturday, 24 October. We wish him the very best with the opening, and can’t wait to see the Uncle Beef team again at the Utilita on 7 November when we play Bedford.

We asked Steve about his business, and his passion for good food, and here’s what he said.

WHO WE ARE

Uncle Beef is a family-run business with a passion for good food, British farming and doing things properly. We specialise in farm-to-fork food, sourcing our meat directly from British farms and working closely with suppliers who share our commitment to quality. Knowing where our meat comes from is incredibly important to us, and we believe the relationships we build with farmers make a real difference to the food we serve. Supporting British farming is something we’re passionate about. We know the hard work that goes into producing quality meat, and we want to make sure that work is recognised and valued.

BRINGING OUR FOOD TO EVENTS

While our roots are in butchery, we’ve built a street food offering that brings together quality British produce, freshly cooked food and a genuine love of feeding people. Our street food catering is all about taking great ingredients and making food people really want to eat. From food cooked over fire to freshly prepared street food favourites, we focus on generous portions, proper flavour and keeping things simple. When you’re working with good ingredients, you don’t need to overcomplicate things.

We’ve catered for a wide range of events, and one of the things we enjoy most is the atmosphere that comes with feeding a crowd. Rugby is a great fit for what we do – we’re really pleased to be involved with Blackheath Rugby and look forward to introducing more people to Uncle Beef, our food and the British farms behind it.

If you see us at the club, come over and say hello. We’re always happy to talk food, farming and what’s cooking.
