We’re excited to announce the signing of Kyle Steeves and Sam Miler who join us from Canada. The two players are benefitting from the Rugby Canada | Elior Champ Rugby partnership (read more about the partnership here https://rugby.ca/en/news/2026/09/rugby-canada-partners-with-champ-rugby-on-new-player-pathway).
Blackheath Rugby’s Head Coach Tom Stradwick says “Kyle and Sam are both strong scrummagers, lineout lifters and maul operators. They have come off the back of international games playing for Canada against Japan, Fiji and America and it will be good to see them wearing Blackheath colours this season!”. Russell Ticehurst, Managing Director, echos Tom’s words and says “A very warm welcome to both Kyle and Sam who join us this week. We are delighted to have them join us for our Champ campaign, and are keen to see them both do well this season, hopefully leading to them cementing their places in the Canada side.”
Kyle can’t wait to get stuck in, and says “A new chapter, a new place to grow and get better, and a chance to make an impact!” And Sam is equally as enthusiastic “Excited to be playing alongside quality players and furthering my development. Super keen to be apart of the oldest standing rugby club. Also I think it’s a great opportunity to represent the club/community in the championship for the first time in a while.”
Welcome the Club, lads (and welcome to the UK!) — we look forward to seeing you on the pitch tomorrow!
