After the last game of the season on Saturday 27 April, Alan Thompson, Immediate Past President and Club Doctor, presented a couple of 23-24 season awards to Tom Baldwin and Billy Harding.
Tom received the ‘Supporters’ Player of the Year’ award, and Billy was presented with the ‘Newcomer of the Year’.
Pamela Kilmister, Chair of the Supporters Club, said “I’m delighted that Tom has won this award, which is voted for by members and supporters of Blackheath Rugby. Tom has been fantastic this year both on and off the pitch: he’s a huge presence in any game he plays in, he led the team out as Captain whilst Ed Taylor was injured, and he’s always got time for a chat with the supporters and members after the match. A true Club man!”
James Shanahan, Director of Rugby, has been trying to get Billy to Blackheath for a few years. “After playing for some other clubs, Billy finally realised that he’d be much happier coming to Blackheath, and he’s loved being with us this season! He’s full of energy, full of life on and off the field, and is one of the best hookers in the league. He wants to get his 100th cap, so we’re looking forward to seeing him play for a few seasons to come!”
Many congratulations to both players on their awards, and we look forward to seeing them again next season.
