A gallant effort from Blackheath, especially mid-way through the opening period when they fought back from an early deficit to briefly hold a narrow lead. Ultimately, however, Ealing simply proved to be too strong, the visitors’ power and professionalism shining through in the final quarter when they ran in five of their nine try haul. ‘Blackheath have had some cracking …
The men’s section went from two fixtures to one last Saturday, as an injury crisis at Old Elthamians left the Brigands with a walk over. It was left to the Bandits to head to Beccahamians. There is something about playing a Blackheath team that makes opponents in this league step up a gear, and Beccs certainly fit that mould. The …
A stunning second half performance saw Blackheath come within a breath of a result that would have sent seismic shockwaves up and down the length of the English Champ. Leading by 20-points at the halfway stage, Coventry looked to be ready to amass similar carnage to that inflicted on Cornish Pirates and Nottingham in recent weeks. However, in a display …
Photos courtesy of @lilylouisa.photos A first win in the Champ for Blackheath and one not only much needed, but also fully merited. With the pain of last week’s, last-ditch, defeat still smarting, the Club fell into a 12-point deficit in as few minutes, but such is the spirit and resilience of this current Blackheath outfit, that they were able to …
The flair and inventiveness came from Blackheath, but it was the calm efficiency and clinical finishing from Caldy that triumphed in the end. Trailing by three points with three minutes remaining, Sam Morley tore into the visitors’ defence, the Club fly-half setting the ruck for Ed Scragg to dive over, giving the hosts a slender advantage. Nevertheless, Blackheath could not …
The opening match of the 2026/27 Elior Champ Rugby season saw Blackheath’s twelve-match winning run, which had gained them promotion from National League One, brought to a soggy end at Lady Bay Sports Ground. The statistics will show that the Club matched Nottingham’s five tries, and only the faultless goal-kicking of Shane O’Leary on this wet and gusty Friday night …
A new season, a lot of new faces and a huge challenge ahead, as Blackheath begin their preparations for life in the ‘Champ’, and a first season back at domestic rugby’s second tier for 27-years. The Club’s first outing couldn’t have started in much better fashion either as, with Aberavon taking ball behind their own goal-line, Kwaby Kloomson, playing at …
Blackheath Rugby is thrilled to announce the signing of Harry Taylor, a back row player who joins us from Ealing Trailfinders. Telling us about Harry, Blackheath Rugby’s Head Coach Tom Stradwick says “Harry is a skilful back rower who has represented Otago in the NPC. He will be a great addition to the squad this season.” Harry can’t wait to …
What a climax to a tumultuous season. Blackheath will be a Championship side next term after this emphatic victory in the Champ Accession Final, returning to domestic rugby’s second tier after a 27-year absence. And what a performance to get there. Everything is stacked against the National League One challenging side, not only home advantage, but the more relaxed tackle-height …
