Blackheath Club XV 33-15 Richmond Saxons

Five tries to two, and a third bonus point win on the spin following good wins against Esher and Chinnor.

A brilliant first half performance from the Club XV, with four converted tries to two unconverted and great place kicking from Oli Burgess with four from five. First half opening score from Daley Aremu, finishing a good backs move built from a strong forwards platform, two tries from prop forward Sam Carmen, who had a impressive game at tight-head, and threw in accurately at line-out time, and a good intercept try from the strong running Matt Armstrong, for the first half to finish with the Club XV 28-10 to the good.

The second half couldn’t have been more different for Club, with a big Richmond pack in the ascendancy, and after 15 minutes their dominance told with a fine try in the corner which again went unanswered.

Club were under the cosh for large parts of the second half, but defended bravely with the back row of Khalil, Ringshall and Emery particularly impressive. Number 7 Toby Emery put in a fine man of the match performance and didn’t miss a tackle all afternoon.

Final score, and pretty much against the run of play came from Eoin Molloy, the young full back taking advantage of a Richmond miss kick to score in the corner.

Great first half performance on the front foot and a second half defensive performance with plenty of physicality from all.

A terrific game played in good spirits which should take Club above half way in the table with games in hand.
