Brandon Jackson and Marcus Kershaw called up to play for England in the Europe Rugby Men’s Sevens

Congratulations to Brandon Jackson and Marcus Kershaw who were called up to play for England in the Europe Rugby Men’s Sevens Zagreb last weekend. Both debutants acquitted themselves well and played in the final against a finely tuned Ireland team ending the match as runners.

Brandon is a graduate of our Mini and Junior Sections and has been re-signed for next season by Saracens as a member of their Academy programme. Saracens DoR Mark McCall said “Brandon is an exciting young player who we believe has a bright future”.

Blackheath Chairman Rory O’Sullivan said “Russell Ticehurst and I, as his coaches, could quickly tell Brandon had great potential to develop into a super player when he arrived as a Mini at Blackheath. Soon it was evident that he had exceptional pace and footwork to match. Although now a Saracen we know he will always be part of our Club family”.

Marcus spent last season at Blackheath on loan from Ealing Trailfinders. He played in several of our first team matches and when given the opportunity, showed a great turn of pace on the wing and occasionally at full-back for the first team. We wish both players well in the next stage of their careers.
