CALLING ALL CLUB MEMBERS WHO CYCLE, SWIM OR RUN!!
The Club Together Kent Cycle Challenge is back! And we invite riders from rugby clubs all over Kent to take part and support your individual clubs and Wooden Spoon Kent.
There are two ways in which clubs can participate:
1) By signing up to the Club Together Kent Ride on Sunday 4th July
We have reduced the entry fee to £40.00 and this year the route encompasses rugby clubs in Mid-Kent (full details on www.clubtogetherkent.co.uk ). If your club isn’t on the route, just choose one that is and make it your starting point. We’ll ensure any money you raise goes directly to your club and your sponsors can donate by clicking on your club name in the ’Sponsor July 4 Riders’ section on the website.
2) By signing up to the Virtual 600k Ride: (full details on www.clubtogetherkent.co.uk)
If you can’t make 4th July, but still want to support your club and Wooden Spoon Kent, we’ve created the ‘Virtual 600k’ – so called because this is the distance between every club playing in Kent. Whether you choose to cycle, run or swim is up to you and you can clock up for distance anytime between 1st April & 30th June. The STRAVA route is on the website so you can keep track of how far you’ve travelled. A leader board is available on STRAVA Club () for the more competitive amongst you. Entry is £10.00.
As you’re probably aware, COVID has seriously impacted funding for rugby clubs all over the country so Wooden Spoon has generously agreed that 75% of monies raised this year, through individual sponsorship, will be allocated to your own club with 25% going to Wooden Spoon Kent. Please note that Gift Aid will go to Wooden Spoon Kent.
So, whilst local club rugby has been short supply of late, we hope that many clubs will pull together to show true rugby team spirit in making a positive impact on club funding and on Wooden Spoon Kent. It’s a great chance to meet up with some of your team mates and get in some early training for next season!
If you sign up to either challenge please let us know so we can let other members know via social media.
