Successful summer volunteer day

Thank you so much to all that came on Saturday to help at the Volunteers’ Day. We had 19 volunteers from age 85 right down to Lucy, our youngest.

We achieved quite a lot of work, with strimming around the car park area and back fencing, painting the stands, painting the gents toilet, power washing the outside gents toilet ready for treating, vacuuming the backs of all the benches in the changing rooms, filling in all the cracks and holes in the walls of the changing rooms ready for painting, sanding down the memorial bench ready for varnishing, painting the blue coat rail in Changing Room 6, and sugar soaping the walls in the gym ready for painting, and the afternoon was, as always, finished off with a couple of beers and pizza in the bar!

There is still a lot to do ahead of the pre-season matches on August 17th and if anyone has a few hours to spare on a Wednesday morning we would love to see you from 10am at Well Hall. We have sweeping, cleaning, painting and weeding still to do.

The next Saturday Volunteers’ Day in the calendar is 17th August, starting at 10:00, so come along and help out before settling down to watch the pre-season matches against Barnes — as a reminder the Club XV kick off at 13:00, and the 1st XV at 15:00. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible that day and, of course, a beer and pizza will be on offer for the volunteers too.
