Volunteer opportunity – Asst Team Mgr Club XV

We have an opportunity for a volunteer to get involved with the Club XV and help Team Manager Craig Molloy with the following tasks. This is initially for the first few months of the season whilst Craig recovers from injury (most likely Christmas), but there will be the option to continue to help out after this, should you wish. This person will be required at both home and away fixtures.

Main tasks are as follows and for more information, or to apply for the position, contact Craig:

BEFORE THE GAME

  1. Setting up changing room with players kit at least 2 hours before players meet (home games can be set up on Thursday if preferable)
    • Place shirts on hangers number facing out, shorts and socks below.
    • Water and sports drink for each player alongside their kit
    • Ensure bibs are placed with the kit for each replacement player on the bench
  1. Ensure three sets of water beakers are filled before players warm up and replenished before start of game
    • The beakers need to be cleaned before each game (ask bar staff to help if home game, else take home and wash)
  1. Ensure coaches have cones, tackle bags and training balls for warm up.
  2. Make sure that three fully inflated match balls are available for kick off
  3. Delegate touch judge from start from replacement players
    • Players typically share this duty throughout the game and it is important that it is covered for the whole of the game

DURING THE GAME

  1. Ensure smooth transition of player replacements in partnership with the coaches on the sidelines.
  2. Make sure replacements take water to the players during natural breaks for injury, or when waiting for conversions to be taken.

AFTER THE GAME

  1. Notify opposition and referee of dining arrangements
  2. Make sure the match balls, water bottles, bibs and training balls are returned to changing rooms
  3. Ask the players to pile up their dirty kit (the right way out) in the middle of the changing room.
  4. During games keep a note of scorers and final score and report to social media at end of game
  5. For away games, pack dirty kit in to the collection bag, which is then put into the laundry room next door to coaches office on return to The Utilita
  6. Changing rooms should be left tidy – remind the players it is their responsibility
  7. Empty water beakers and put into container along with any unused clean kit and balls

TRAINING

  1. Attend training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 and take a registration of all 1st and Club XV players attending
  2. Ensure the Green King bar is set up for our players/coaches meeting which takes place at 7:00pm
