As we continue to creep toward pre-season training, we have some more new faces to introduce you to at Blackheath Rugby — Kyle McGhie, Oscar Daniel and Tom Johnson.
Telling us about Kyle, who joins us from Hartpury, Blackheath Rugby’s Head Coach Tom Stradwick says “I was really impressed with Kyle’s quality of pass in the footage I watched of him playing last season. Despite his young age he will bring a lot of experience to the team having become the most capped 9 in the former Scottish Super 6 league.”. Kyle can’t wait to start and says “I’m looking forward to joining a club with such rich history. The squad that’s being put together is a really exciting one and I can’t wait to see where we can take this team!”.
Oscar, who’s previous club was Loughborough Students, says he’s looking forward to “…being back in London, a chance to play some good rugby and have some fun!”. Tom Stradwick is excited about him joining and says “Oscar looks a classy player. He is able to glide around defenders as well as beat them with quality footwork. I think Oscar will have the ability to excite the crowd this season.”
Coming from CS Stags 1863, Tom is keen to get started and says “I’m really excited to be joining such a great club with long and well established history. Can’t wait to get involved this season!”. Strads thinks Sam will be a great addition and says “Tom is an athletic second row and will be a threat in the wider channels this season. He comes highly rated having played for London Scottish in the Prem Cup. His height will also be a weapon for us in the lineout.”.
On the new signings, Russell Ticehurst, Managing Director, says “I’m really looking forward to seeing Kyle, Oscar and Tom at Blackheath. These three players have huge potential and this season represents a great opportunity for them all to secure a position in the squad for seasons to come. With pre season just around the corner it will be interesting to see how quickly they fit in and start making their mark”.
