A fabulous afternoon!

On Friday 2 February, 228 people attended the 2024 City Lunch fundraiser at The Kia Oval. The biggest lunch we’ve ever organised meant that not only were we able to raise money for the club, but the generosity of the diners meant that we could donate £2,500 to Cardiac Risk in the Young, enabling dozens of young people to be screened in the name of Anthony Fitzgerald, helping to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death.

James Fleming, Chairman of Blackheath Rugby, says “It was terrific to welcome so many guests to the City Lunch and a sincere thank you to everyone who made it such a great day. This is third time that we have held the Lunch at The Kia Oval and the largest number of guests that we have hosted to date. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we made a good profit for the Club funds as well as making an important donation to our partner charity, CRY.”

We are grateful to the event sponsors, Greene King, Grant Saw Solicitors LLP, Utilita, Stephen James BMW and Barnes Roffe, and to all those who donated raffle prizes and auction lots. We would also like to give a special mention to the event team – most are volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this lunch the success it was. James Fleming, Russell Ticehurst, Sally Clift, Lisa O’Sullivan, Pamela Kilmister, Henry Paul and Simon Boulter.
