Welcome to the fantastic brand-new Blackheath Rugby website! We have had a very strange year with the Covid-19 pandemic. We have had no competitive matches since March 16th 2020, and we have lost almost a whole season of rugby. We are looking forward to a much better season in 2021-2022.
As the oldest open rugby club in the world, Blackheath’s name is famous throughout the rugby community across the world, as is the history of this great club, which dates back to 1858, when Blackheath Football Club was founded. Blackheath FC has the unusual distinction of being one of the founder members of both the Football Association, in 1863, and the Rugby Football Union, in 1871.
This new website has required a lot of time and energy to get to this point, so thanks to all those who have worked so hard during the lockdown periods to develop it. A fully functional website, which is kept up to date, is a crucial part of the way that the Club communicates with its members and the rest of the world, along with the three main social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, which we are using increasingly to spread the word about what we do and to attract sponsors.
