City lunch 2025

Almost 250 guests enjoyed the annual City Lunch in the Ashes Suite of the Kia Oval last Friday. This is almost 100 more guests than attended the first lunch held at the Kia Oval in 2022 and it was wonderful to see so many Club members and friends.

A sumptuous lunch was partnered with some great entertainment, including the three singers who provided great amusement along with their fantastic singing.

Our guest speaker was Andrew Mehrtens, and he regaled the audience with some great stories from his tremendous career, playing over 70 times for the New Zealand All Blacks, and treated us all to an interactive Haka.

This was a great Club event that raised important funds for the Club and also our partner Charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (“CRY”). Congratulations and thank you to all those who successfully bid on the live and silent auction lots (and those who donated), those who bought tickets for the raffle, and also those who enjoyed the ‘heads ‘n’ tails’ – U15s coach Nalin Parbhu, won a Fortnum & Mason hamper, kindly donated by our partner Grant Saw.

And, finally, a big thank you to all those who came along and made it a wonderful afternoon.

James Fleming, Chairman
