Blackheath Rugby is very happy to announce the signing of Findlay Gilmour, a centre who joins us from Ealing Trailfinders Academy.
James Shanahan says “Fin came highly recommended by Will Davis, having coached him at Brunel Uni and Ealing Academy. He is a powerful 13 — strong in both the tackle and the contact after, and he led the defence for Brunel so I’m looking forward to seeing him at the club. Fin has the perfect profile of a player coming out of uni, wanting to play good, part time rugby. I’m hoping Fin will be the new batch of 100 cap club players in the years to come.”
Will Davis, Blackheath Rugby’s scrum coach who noticed Fin’s potential at Ealing Academy, agrees with Shanners “We wanted to inject some youth into the squad, players who will come in hungry to impress and drive energy.” Will goes on to say “Fin is a physical centre and a defensive leader. A standout performer in the programme, Fin was often training with Ealing Trailfinders 1st Team, gaining valuable experience. I look forward to seeing what he can do at the club.”
As for Fin, he is eager to join the club and says “I can’t wait to get started with Blackheath, being such a great club. Hopefully I can contribute to the club’s great history. Being a part of a club like Blackheath is really exciting, and I’m looking forward to get started.”
Welcome to the Club, Fin!
