We are delighted to announce that we have, today, completed the purchase of the freehold of Well Hall.
The process started six years ago when we first approached the University of Greenwich with the ambition to buy the ground.
After a successful bid, funding for the purchase of the ground was provided in part from the Community Ownership Fund of the Department of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and also by the generous support from our members and friends via the Loan Note, Blackheath Football Club are proud owners of our own ground for the very first time in our 166-year history.
I would like to thank all of those who have contributed to this, particularly our membership, local politicians, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and key individuals who wrote letters of support that accompanied our Grant application. Gratitude and thanks must go to our Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Probert and our Chairman James Fleming who have invested their time, expertise and patience during the acquisition of the ground and managed this through to the end.
We are excited that the purchase of Well Hall will protect the future of the Club.
