The Club is seeking a Volunteer Member of the Club to fill our Club Safeguarding Officer role.

This is an extremely important position and is appointed to the Club Committee, reporting to the Hon Secretary. It is vital that the Club fulfils its obligations to age grade and adults-at-risk players as an Accredited RFU Club, as well as its moral and legal obligation of its duty of care to its members and young players. The RFU’s Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Discipline, Enjoyment and Sportsmanship apply across the spectrum of participation in this greatest of all team sports.

The role requires dedication of time, together with the key attributes of keen attention to detail; a high degree of discretion and sensitivity in dealing with sometimes sensitive and potentially upsetting information, excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to respond to occasional spikes in workload in processing Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applications for our coaches and team managers. Additionally, in-person attendance at, and input into, the Club Committee meetings is required every two months or so during the rugby season.

A job description can be found here. If you are a Member of Blackheath Rugby, and you would like to be considered for the role, please write to Huw Gronow, Hon Secretary, at huw.gronow@blackheathrugby.co.uk, describing your suitability for the role and any previous relevant experience.
