Welcome to The Club, Tex!

Blackheath Rugby is delighted to announce the signing of Tevita ‘Tex’ Cavubati, the 6’7” Fijian lock who has represented his country in two World Cups. Tex joins us after a few years playing Top 14 in France, having also played Premiership Rugby with at Worcester Warriors, Newcastle Falcons and Harlequins.

James Shanahan, Director of Rugby, says “Tex brings a huge wealth of experience having played  over ten years in the professional game as well as for his country Fiji. Once I heard he was in London, was looking to settle into a career and part-time rugby, and had enquired about Blackheath with a current player, it was a no-brainer to call him and tell him about the club and what we could do for him to prepare for life after rugby. At 120kg and 6”7’ he’ll be a huge presence on the field in the 2nd row. Plus, from chats I’ve had with former colleagues, he’s a great bloke off the field for any squad he’s been involved in.”

Russell Ticehurst, Managing Director, can’t wait to see Tex in Club colours “I am very excited to welcome Tevita ‘Tex’ Cavubati to Blackheath for 24/25 season. He brings with him tremendous rugby credentials, over 100 appearances in the Premiership plus 26 caps for Fiji, appearing in two World Cups. He will add a genuine bit of push to the front five. We know he’ll be a great asset on the pitch but we also believe he’s going to be a great squad man sharing his experience with our younger players and helping them develop. We’re almost done with our signings for the season but don’t be surprised if you see one or two late comers!”

Speaking about his recent signing, Tex says “I’m excited to be part of Blackheath Rugby, with a great management behind it and the history of the club. We should turn few heads this season!”

Welcome to The Club, Tex — we can’t wait to see you on the pitch.
