The season has begun strongly for the section, recording five convincing wins in play across two leagues. The section is setting a benchmark in the leagues, playing a hard running and open style of Rugby.
Numbers in the section continue to grow, with new joiners from age group, players returning to rugby, dads trying out the game, along with completely new members joining the club.
In a landscape of social rugby across England that is struggling, we aim to cement these gains and continue to grow. We will do this by playing rugby that is competitive and fun for our playing members, and by cementing bonds between those players and the wider club. Section members are already coaching the U13s and the Colts teams, and members are often sideline supporting the women’s team.
Running all rugby teams costs money. For the first time we are seeking Player Sponsors this season to help the Men’s Section function, continue its growth and, crucially, keep rugby affordable for all.
Funds raised contribute towards important things such as the costs of having physios at our games; vital first aid kit and the all-important tape that holds so many of the players together; key team building elements such as the End of Season Awards and buying the opposition a pint or two when we are at home; and crucially it helps keep the additional match fees the players pay themselves to an affordable minimum.
If you’re an ex-player yourself and want to keep supporting the teams you played for; if you’re player’s family member or friend wanting to support them; a Club Member wanting to support Community rugby; or if you are a business owner/players employer and would like a small bit of exposure, please sponsor one of the squad.
Sponsorship is just £150 per player and to recognise your support we would:
- List you as the player sponsor on the team sheet on Social Media
- Add your name as their sponsor to their Player Profile we will put on social media
- Tag you on Social media with the Player Profile
- Add your name to the Man of The Match post if your player is chosen by the opposition
- List you in a roll of honour social media post thanking all our sponsors
We will also be looking for match sponsors for one or both of the double headers with both the Men’s Section teams at home which will take place towards the end of the season.
