Blackheath Rugby would like to welcome Alex Wainwright, Charlie Briers and Joji Logavatu to the Club.
Coming from Loughborough University, Alex is keen to get started and says “I’m excited to be part of a new team, and play for a club with so much history”. Tom Stradwick, Head Coach at Blackheath Rugby, thinks Alex will be a great addition and says “Alex joins us from Loughborough University where he represented their BUCS team. Alex has the ability to play an expansive game and get the ball moving quickly across the pitch. He also has an eye for taking a half gap and turning it into a line break.”.
Charlie, who’s previous club was Bishop’s Stortford, says he can’t wait to join “I’m really looking forward to meeting the group of lads and competing at the top of Nat 1”. Tom is equally enthusiastic “Charlie is a young scrum half with good pedigree, representing England Students whilst at university. Having started last season with Bishop’s Stortford he has National 1 level playing experience. I am looking forward to seeing how he establishes himself at Blackheath this season.”
Telling us about Joji, who joins us from Rotherham Titans, Tom says “Joji brings Fijian flair, speed and power to the forward pack this season. Joji will be at his most dangerous when the game opens up and opposition players become tired.”. Joji is looking forward to joining Blackheath, and says “I’m looking forward to joining Blackheath Rugby because I’m passionate about the sport and eager to be part of a team that values discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Rugby not only challenges me physically but also helps build character and mental toughness. I’m excited to grow as a player, learn from others, and contribute to a strong team culture both on and off the field.”.
On the new signings, Russell Ticehurst, Managing Director, says “Good to see former Loughborough students Alex and Charlie join the club for 25/26 season and a very warm welcome to Joji from Rotherham Titans. I’m looking forward to see these guys make a real impression this season and thrilled to have them at Blackheath. The strength in depth that our new Head Coach is building is impressive indeed. I hope the guys settle in fast and show the Club supporters why we are so pleased they have joined us this season.”.
