Blackheath Rugby would like to welcome Archie Bourne, Darragh Walsh, Sam Westmacott to the Club.
Archie, who’s previous club was Chinnor, says he can’t wait to join “I’m really looking forward to joining and getting stuck into a competitive, ambitious environment with a great group of lads”. Tom Stradwick, Head Coach, is equally enthusiastic “Archie is an extremely powerful ball carrier with a strong set piece game. He caused a number of teams problems two seasons ago when he was playing for Bury and I am sure he will do the same for Blackheath.”
Telling us about Darragh, who joins us from Loughborough University, Tom Stradwick says “We are really excited to have signed Darragh for next season. From the footage I watched he looks like a player that has a lot of time on the ball and has excellent basic skills. Being a young player he will only get better and better as the season progresses and he gets more exposure to National 1 rugby.”. Darragh is looking forward to joining Blackheath, and says “I’m thrilled to be joining a club with such rich history, and I’m excited to contribute both on and off the field as we push for success this season.”
Coming from Esher, Sam is keen to get started and says “I look forward to joining Blackheath as it’s such a historic club and I look forward to meeting all the boys and representing the club!”. Tom thinks Sam will be a great addition and says “Sam is a hooker that has excellent set piece skills. I have been impressed with the quality of his throw and having converted form tight head his scrummaging ability will be a weapon for us.”
On the new signings, Russell Ticehurst, Managing Director, says “Three more talented ex Loughborough Students joins this season and I’m looking forward to seeing Darragh, Archie and Sam at Blackheath. Archie and Sam with their experience will add some excellent strength in depth upfront, and I’m sure they’re are both looking to secure their shirts as early as possible this season. Darragh looks more than capable and gives us another exciting option for the back three and we look forward to seeing all of them at Well Hall very soon!”
